AWARE

AWARE partners with organizations across the Evansville area to identify and serve low-income households that are falling through the cracks. The program qualifies and enrolls households in supportive programming; provides backpacks and supplemental food for students; organizes community resource drives for food, clothing, school supplies, and holiday gifts; and recruits volunteers to collect, pack, and distribute resources to families who need them. AWARE is the kind of program that shows up and keeps showing up.

Project Thrive

Unemployment is not just a financial crisis: it is a confidence crisis. Project Thrive is a job training and education program designed for parents of children under 18 who are currently out of work. Using an evidence-based cognitive behavioral approach, the program delivers 40 hours of classroom and group instruction along with resume assistance, mock interviews, and employment search support. The goal is not just a job: it is the self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and stronger parenting that come with it.

Transitional Living Program

Young parents who are homeless need more than shelter: they need time, support, and a plan. Community Action's Transitional Living Program provides up to 18 months of rent assistance and 24 months of intensive case management for homeless single pregnant or parenting young people ages 18 to 23 in Beloit. It is a bridge from crisis to stability, built one step at a time.

Community Kids Learning Centers

Access to quality, affordable child care is one of the most significant barriers facing working families in our region. Community Action's Community Kids Learning Centers provide state-licensed child care at sites in Janesville and Beloit, along with tuition assistance for low-income families who could not otherwise afford quality care. When parents have reliable child care, they can stay in the workforce, pursue education, and build a more stable future for their families..

Personal Responsibility Empowerment Program (PREP)

Community Action's PREP program works with young people across Rock County schools and summer programs to reduce teen birth rates and sexually transmitted infections, delay the initiation of sexual activity, and lower dropout rates. Trained staff use evidence-based curriculum to deliver educational programming that equips young people with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions.
