Every Child Deserves a Strong Start and a Clear Path Forward.

We want every child in the Blackhawk Region to soar: at every age and at every stage. That means making sure kids arrive at kindergarten ready to learn, that they can read by third grade, that they have safe and enriching places to go after the bell rings, and that they cross the graduation stage with a clear path to college or a career.

United Way Blackhawk Region invests in the full arc of a child's development, from the earliest days of life through the transition to adulthood. Because when we invest in children, we invest in the future of this entire community.

Born Learning Trails

The Born Learning Trail is a series of 10 interactive signs that offer fun, active learning activities for young children and their families. It helps parents, caregivers and communities create quality engagement opportunities when out on a stroll or visiting a local playground.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Through our partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, children in our region receive a free, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every month from birth through age five. Because a child who grows up with books grows up ready to read.
